The National Peace and Reconciliation Commission (NPRC) the body which is to look into the Gukurahundi Massacres among other issues, has postponed its public consultations due to a court challenge. The challenge is from the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum which wants Commission which to have a substantive chairperson first before it starts meeting with communities.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa signed the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission Bill (NPRC) into law early this year, making operational the Commission that was appointed in 2016. Vice President Kembo Mohadi is the Minister of National Peace and Reconciliation.

NATIONAL PEACE AND RECONCILIATION COMMISSION
PRESS STATEMENTThe National Peace and Reconciliation Commission (NPRC) received a notice of an Urgent Chamber Application on 6 February 2018 filed by the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum interdicting the Commission from “undertaking any stakeholder engagements or any work that it is mandated by the Constitution to carry our until a substantive Chairperson of the Commission has been appointed.
As a result, the NPRC hereby notifies the nation of Zimbabwe that the provincial consultations that were scheduled or the 9. of February 2018 in Matabeleland South Province(Gwanda) and Mashonaland Central Province (Bindura) have been postponed to a date to be advised.
The NPRC assures the nation of its commitment and readiness to execute its constitutional mandate.
