NPF Wanted Me To Join, I Rejected Because It's A Tribal Outfit With No Future: Didymus Mutasa

Former State Security minister Didymus Mutasa has dismissed the Robert Mugabe endorsed National Patriotic Front opposition party saying that it was a tribal party. Mutasa revealed that he rejected an offer to join the new party which is led by Brigadier General (retired) Ambrose Mutinhiri. Speaking to New Zimbabwe, Mutasa said,

He (Mutinhiri) personally came to my house and we talked for few minutes and (he) asked if I could join and help his NPF. I asked him to explain all about it and after that, I told him to leave because this was just a Zeruru tribal party with no. future. I told him (Mutinhiri that) I don’t want to waste his time and mine and he must leave immediately.

However, NPF spokesperson Jealousy Mawarire refuted the allegations saying,

We are patriots who don’t identify with tribes or any such narrow ascription meant to divide our people. We leave tribal politics to Zanu PF with its blatant nepotism that has yielded a village cabinet now referred to as Moyo, Sibanda, Shumba and Associates.
