Special Adviser to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Christopher Mutsvangwa has written to five embassies soliciting donations for the Norton Community. Mutsvangwa has approached the embassies of the European Union, United Kingdom, Turkey, China and South Africa. The special adviser will face Langton Mutendereki in the rerun for the Norton Constituency after he was initially defeated in the Zanu-PF primaries. This has led to accusations of vote buying. Part of the things requested by Mutsvangwa include,
- 20 Beasts
- 30 Tonnes Mealie Meal
- 15 Tonnes Rice
- $10 000 Food Vouchers
- 7 500 Litres of Fuel
- 100 Bicycles
- 500 Boreholes
- Internet points of presence in Norton (sic).
- Solar tower lights
However, Mutsbangwa denied the vote-buying allegations saying.
These are big items of a capital nature; tower lights, boreholes and internet are of long-term development well beyond elections. For your information, big corporates have already started helping out. You shall go to Norton and see surprises, henceforth, as of my return as a constituent player.
