More Irregularities Alleged In Zanu-PF Primary Elections Reruns, Losers Demand Another Rerun

Disgruntled Zanu PF supporters and losing candidates have alleged that the Zanu-PF Primary Elections Reruns were marred by irregularities which in some cases were worse than in the initial polls. The party ordered reruns for select constituencies after candidates raised allegations of rigging, harassment and violence.

Zvimba South losing candidate Crispen Kadhoza Saidi said,

The rerun irregularities were more than when the elections were initially held because Chiyangwa used money to influence the results by giving money to some ward and youth chairpersons in the constituency. I’m appealing for another rerun.

Another supporter in Mzowe West told NewsDay,

We don’t know why we are being denied the opportunity to choose our preferred candidates. We didn’t vote, many people didn’t because we have lost confidence in the process. We need a complete rerun and that message must be taken seriously.

However, Zanu-PF has ruled out more reruns saying that the party needs to focus on campaigning.
