Chief Musarurwa Accused Of Attempting To Bribe Other Chiefs With Blankets

Chief Musarurwa allegedly attempted to bribe other traditional leaders with blankets ahead of yesterday’s elections for the posts of president and deputy president of the Chiefs Council.

Chief Musarurwa, wanted to contest against Chief Charumbira for the presidency, withdrawed at the last-minute on Tuesday night after most traditional leaders exposed him. This resulted in Charumbira and his deputy Chief Mtshane Khumalo from Matabeleland North winning the elections uncontested. Chief Charumbira and Chief Mtshane retained their positions as leaders of the Zimbabwe Council of Chiefs, positions that automatically make them Senators.

Chief Musarurwa was reportedly working with businessman Mr Stanley Kasukuwere, who was trying to influence traditional leaders from his home province, Mashonaland Central. Several traditional leaders interviewed by our The Herald confirmed Chief Musarurwa wanted to bribe them.
