A Gwanda man who allegedly murdered a mentally challenged man said that he intended to harvest the head and testicles after he was advised by a friend, one Cosmas Zhou that he could get $25 000 from selling the body parts.
Honest Moyo (22) made the confession when he appeared before Justice Martin Makonese at the Bulawayo High Court on Thursday. Said Moyo:
The now deceased had been stabbed behind the head, I rolled the body and confirmed that he was dead. There was clotted blood next to the body. Something came to mind about our discussion with … Zhou who told me body parts could fetch $25 000 in Chiredzi.
I went back to the corpse with a paper bag and a knife. I cut off the head and private parts and then went back home to search for Cosmas’ contact number.
I looked for the mobile line with Cosmas’ number but I could not find it. When it was dark, I went back and buried the headless corpse.
I then proceeded to hide the shovels just next to the dam, and then I returned home where I cooked; ate and slept.
Moyo said he did not kill the man but stumbled upon the corpse near a dump site in Colleen Bawn. He then recalled a conversation he had with Zhou and decided to harvest the parts.
