Majority Of MDC Officials Want Congress To Be Held In October - Mafume

MDC spokesperson Jacob Mafume said that most of the members of the party’s national standing committee agreed that the party’s elective Congress should be held in October.

Speaking to Newsday after the national standing committee meeting held on Wednesday, Mafume said:

It was an open meeting in which people were allowed to air their views regarding Congress.

The party’s secretary general Douglas Mwonzora is reported to have refused to comment when asked to elaborate on his alleged bust-up with party president Nelson Chamisa during the meeting. Said Mwonzora:

The national standing committee is a private meeting whose discussions are the preserve of members of the party.
