MDC top official Chalton Hwende’s lawyer Harrison Nkomo revealed that he would be making an application for refusal of placement on remand on the basis that his client was arrested before he was legally in the country. Said Nkomo:
The accused was arrested whilst abroad a Namibian aeroplane as soon as it touched the Harare International airport. Technically the accused had not yet entered Zimbabwe and he did not present himself to Zimbabwe immigration.
Reports indicate that Hwende was nabbed whilst aboard Namibian Airways when he landed at the RGMI Aiport on Tuesday.
He was taken away by detectives even before his passport was stamped. Hwende is facing charges of subverting a constitutional government.
