Political party leaders who are participating in dialogue initiated by President Mnangagwa will visit the survivors of Cyclone Idai together.
This was announced by Mnangagwa during a briefing after a meeting at State House in Harare. The 18 political parties who attended the meeting appointed chairman of the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission (NPRC) Justice Selo Nare and chairperson of the Gender Commission, Margaret Sangarwe Mkahanana, as co-chairs of National Dialogue. Said Mnangagwa:
We have agreed that in the course of next week all the political parties participating in dialogue shall all be brought together to visit affected areas in Chimanimani and Chipinge. I think this is a very good idea.
Cyclone Idai has claimed over 100 lives with thousands of homes destroyed.
