The MDC condemns the raiding of 263Chat Offices in Harare.
Freedom of the media is guaranteed in section in 61 of the Constitution and the Constitution is supreme.
Any conduct inconsistent with the Constitution must be investigated.
Shooting and injuring a 263Chat journalist is not only barbaric and criminal but unjustifiable in a democratic society.
The use of repressive State apparatus to close the democratic space is unacceptable, it puts an unnecessary premium on the profile of Zimbabwe and inflicts isolation of the nation.
Even worse the raid resulted in the theft of phones and other valuables in the newsroom.
We call for a full investigation of all the people on duty in the resultant operation.
