TelOne Move Up To 10th After Handing FC Platinum First Defeat Of The Season

Castle Lager Premier Soccer League debutants TelOne shocked reigning champions FC Platinum 1-0 in a match played at Luveve Stadium in Bulawayo on Sunday.

The WiFi boys handed Pure Platinum Play their first defeat of the season when Elasto Chigora’s 58th header found no response from the Zvishavane-based side.

As a result, TelOne moved up to 10th on the log while FC Platinum slipped to 4th with 14 points after 7 games.

TelOne coach Jairos Tapera attributed the shock victory to teamwork. He said:

This is our biggest win, playing against reigning champions and grinding a result is magnificent.

It was teamwork that pushed us through and the players maintained our strategy, which was to close all the pockets FC Platinum tried to open.

We had to be tactically disciplined because I know FC Platinum can hit you if you open up.

FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza conceded defeat to a team he said played very well.

Mapeza added that losing is part of football and he expects his charges to bounce back as the season is still in its infancy.
