Chief Ndiweni Goes Underground After Brush With Thugs

Controversial Ntabazinduna Chief Nhlanhla Ndiweni has gone into hiding after he was accosted by suspected ZANU PF thugs in Bulawayo on Wednesday.

Chief Ndiweni was coming from Tredgold Magistrates’ Courts where he is facing charges of malicious damage to property when the thugs attempted to seize his government-issued vehicle.

The Chief’s lawyer, Dumisani Dube revealed that the Chief had indeed gone to a safe house. Said Dube:

Yes, some thugs did actually attempt to rob the chief of his government-issued vehicle and only backed off after he requested to get his personal stuff (from the vehicle) but in the process he produced a jerry can before he sprinkled it (the vehicle) with fuel, (while threatening) to douse it rather than have it taken away.

Realising that they had backed off, Ndiweni jumped into the car and drove off…As I am speaking, he has gone to a safe house. I hope the Executive will move in and protect the chief.

This should be nipped in the bud; recently Chief Sigodo had to flee from Silobela after hooligans brandished guns and attempted to kill him.

What kind of society are we having where traditional leaders are terrified of petty hoodlums and police do nothing about it?

Daggers have been out for the chief since he declared his support for opposition MDC president Nelson Chamisa.

Recently, Chief Ndiweni called on Western governments to impose more sanctions on the country’s ruling elite.
