The Standard Chartered bank in Zimbabwe has discontinued offering safe deposit boxes to its customers. The bank announced the development on Thursday, 16 May.
Said the bank:
Following earlier advice to affected clients, Stanchart wishes to inform all those who have previously lodged items for safe custody with the bank that it is regrettably no longer offering this service.
If you have lodged items with the bank, you are requested to collect them from your branch by no later than June 15, 2019.
It is not clear why the bank discontinued the service.
