Telecel Suspends Board Member Francis Mahwindi

Telecel Zimbabwe has suspended a board member, Francis Mahwindi, with effect from June 6, 2019.

In a notice issued on Thursday, board chairman James Makamba said that Mahwindi has been suspended for leaking company information to the media. Said Makamba:

The Telecel Zimbabwe board of directors wishes to inform all stakeholders that a resolution has been passed for the suspension of Mr Francis Mawindi from holding the office of Telecel Zimbabwe board director effective 6th of June 2019, pending final resolution by the shareholders in terms of the Companies Act.

This is following Francis Mawindi’s serious breach of the common law fiduciary duty of confidentiality and to act in the best interests of the company through communicating and misrepresenting confidential company information.

However, Mahwindi has rejected the resolution, saying that it is null and void. He pleaded his innocence and vowed that the goings-on within the company will eventually come out.
