Reports indicate that the MDC Alliance has retained the City of Kadoma Ward 2 council seat in a by-election held on Saturday, June 8, 2019.
The MDC Alliance candidate Svorai Chiwara polled 780 votes, against ZANU PF’s Lloyd Nyambo who garnered 361 votes.
The seat fell vacant after MDC Alliance councillor Michael Gore was jailed five months ago for inciting public violence during the January fuel protests which became violent.
There were unconfirmed reports earlier in the day that ZANU PF activists were engaging in violence against perceived opposition party supporters.
