Khuphe, ED & Constitution Top MDC Agenda

The MDC will tomorrow convene a special national council meeting to deal with issues agreed on and ratified at congress in Gweru last month. It is reported that among other issues, changes that were made to the MDC constitution will be on top of the agenda.

The congress adopted several resolutions including having one vice-president, doing away with the current system which has three deputy presidents. It also resolved to bar its members from taking the party to court, saying any such action would result in one’s automatic dismissal from the organisation.

The national council was delegated authority to finish the pending business and it is convening tomorrow.

Thokozani Khuphe who now leads a splinnter MDC-T group will be on the agenda since the congress resolved to ban the use of the logo, name and regalia of the party by anyone else outside the Nelson Chamisa led MDC.

The nacional council shall also discuss on the best way the party can deal with president Emmerson Mnangagwa. The opposition MDC accuses him of overseeing an administration that caused the economic plunge and manipulating the 2018 electoral process.

Meanwhile, the MDC youth league has already resolved to adopt a confrontational approach against the president and government. This resolution attracted threats from the ZANU-PF youths who said they would squash any protest.

Party leader, Nelson Chamisa is expected to make appointments to close to 40 members of the national executive.
