Outgoing Highlanders FC technical director, Madinda Ndlovu views his club’s victory over eternal rivals Dynamos FC not being just about three points.
Ndlovu claimed that the victory has sentimental value for the Ndebele Community. He said:
It’s always good to make your people happy. I am happy they are singing, it helps them to forget a lot of things.
This game has sentimental value to the Ndebele, to the Highlanders fans and family.
Dynamos had dominated us for up to ten years and now we are almost halfway through, trying to cover up that dominance they had.
Highlanders beat Dynamos 1-0 in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at Bulawayo’s Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Though Bosso dominated the entire match, the solitary goal was scored by Cleopas Kapupurika against his former paymasters after a fumble by the DeMbare keeper.
Dynamos have not won a league match over Highlanders since 2016 and the wait could continue for the foreseeable future as the club is at its weakest in a very long time.
Highlanders are now on 14 points after 12 games, a long way off pacesetters FC Platinum who beat Bulawayo Chiefs 3-0.
