"They've Ended Up Believing Their Own Lies About Zimbabwe" - Acting President

Acting President, Kembo Mohadi has Western countries had an imaginary and bizarre view of Zimbabwe. He said that the “denigrators” were unfairly staining the image of Zimbabwe as the portrayed image did not constitute what is really on the ground.

Speaking after meeting outgoing United Nations Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Mr Bishow Parajuli, in Harare on Thursday, Mohadi said:

They are members of the UN, but they have been demonising us and they have ended up believing their own lies about Zimbabwe, which is not true.

But those who come to Zimbabwe and see things for themselves have found out that the situation is different. We are okay with ourselves, they (West) will come to realise it.

We are a resilient nation, we will find our way. We will get there, with or without them and they will join the bandwagon.

His remarks come after Western Diplomatic Missions in Zimbabwe have jointly castigated the abduction, torture and harassment of opposition MDC members, human rights defenders and government critics by supposedly government agents.

A number of people have in the recent past been reportedly and nicodemusly abducted and tortured, with some sustaining broken legs and fractured body party.

Mohadi’s remarks also come after the international community has criticised the banning of MDC demonstrations by the government.

The protests were scheduled to start in Harare on the 16th of August but were all blocked with the police arguing that the demonstrations were likely to be violent.
