Khupe Advises ZANU PF To March Against Xenophobia, Not Sanctions

MDC-T president Thokozani Khupe said ZANU PF should consider marching against xenophobic attacks in South Africa rather than the so-called march against sanctions.

The ruling party had initially planned to demonstrate against Western-imposed sanctions this Thursday but the event has since been deferred to next week.

Speaking to NewZimbabwe.com, Khupe’s spokesperson, Khaliphani Phungeni claimed that those who are out of the country [being subjected to xenophobic attacks in South Africa] fled from Zimbabwe because of ZANU PF’s misgovernance. Said Phungeni:

Our stance is that sanctions must go as they don’t serve the purported purpose. Rather they are responsible for the suffering of our people not its targets.

We have no view with regards to the Zanu PF march except to say if they were marching against the xenophobic attacks currently happening in South Africa, that would have been something considering those who are out of the country are as a result of their (Zanu PF ) misgovernance.

South African authorities confirmed that 5 people were killed in the orgy of violence and looting which erupted on Sunday in Johannesburg.
