Court To Rule On Mupfumira's Bail Application Today

Former Tourism Minister’s will know her fate on her recent bail application today as the court will rule on her latest bail application. Mupfumira who is facing 7 counts of criminal abuse of office, made a fresh freedom bid last week citing her reasons why she should be out on bail.

The Herald reports that Mupfumira in her application said another former minister facing similar charges was out on bail:

In her bail application, Mupfumira submitted that she should be granted bail as former permanent secretary in the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare Ngoni Masoka, who is facing similar charges, is out on bail

The prosecutor however opposed er application saying she wanted to evade lawful arrest because she lied to police officers who were trying to arrest her. Her other bail application at the Supreme Court was unsuccessful after Justice Anne-Marie Gowora ruled that her grounds of appeal lacked merit.
