Marvelous Nakamba Wants To Promote Zimbabwe In England

Warriors and Aston Villa Midfielder, Marvelous Nakamba, says he hopes his move to England will help inspire young Zimbabwean footballers to aim high.

In an interview with BBC Sport, the 25-year-old revealed that his family is always pushing him to better. He said:

It’s good for my country to have someone representing them and I also think it’s good for the upcoming players, the young ones back home.

I think they can believe and have faith that nothing is impossible.

It’s something that keeps pushing me. It gives me confidence, faith and belief in myself.

My family back home are proud of me. They are always watching me, they are pushing me and I just want to keep on representing them and try my best and keep on learning.

Nakamba said that the English top-flight is of a higher standard than the Belgian league. He added:

The Premier League standard is higher when compared to the Belgian league but off course in Belgium I played Champions League with Club Brugge. Champions League and Premier League are almost similar and so it’s been good.

Nakamba moved from Belgian club, Club Brugge to Aston Villa in August this year. He followed in the footsteps of former Liverpool goalkeeper Bruce Grobbelaar, Coventry City star Peter Ndlovu and Manchester City striker Benjani Mwaruwaru in playing in the English top flight.
