Biti Demands Refund For Car Causing Him "Humiliation, Pain, Shock & Suffering ..."

Former Finance Minister, advocate Tendai Biti has sued Duly’s Motors who sold him a defective Ford Ranger in 2013.

The vice president of the opposition MDC is demanding a refund amounting to US$60 000 and ZW$400,000 compensation for the car which he says has over the years caused him “humiliation, pain, shock and suffering, mental and physical abuse and injuria”.

In his court papers, Biti argued that at the time of sale, the Ford Ranger overheated, with the temperature gauge not reflecting the details. He also said that it had challenges in the gearbox resulting in the vehicle stalling and not moving. He added:

The defects on the vehicle are of such a nature that the vehicle can no longer be used on a public road. Had plaintiff known of the defects he would not have purchased the vehicle at all.
