ED's Failure To Investigate Abductions And Torture Cases In Zimbabwe To Headline At The International Union Rights Journal Meeting

The president’s lukewarm response in investigating abductions and torture cases in Zimbabwe will headline at the next International Union Rights Journal meeting New Zimbabwe wrote.

In a letter addressed to The President, Sekesai Nzenza, Ziyambi Ziyambi and United Nations Special Rapporteur Clément Nyaletsossi, International Center for Trade Union Rights director, Daniel Blackburn said “there is need for adoption of measures to ensure Zimbabwe complies with obligations under international law was made.”

Blackburn also addressed the issue of ZCTU leaders who received mailed bullets to threaten them to stop calling for mass protests.

ICTUR further demands that the government immediately cease its harassment of trade union leaders, officials and members, to drop all charges against them related to the exercise of their fundamental rights, and release any individuals still in detention.

ICTUR will report these incidents in the journal International Union Rights, which was established in 1993, and which enjoys a readership in more than 100 countries.
