OSU! Shihan Samson Muripo Wins Another Gold At World Championship

Shihan Samson Muripo has won another gold medal at the sixth Kyokushin Karate World Cup in Moscow, Russia held on Sunday.

Muripo is the first African to win a world title at the Kyokushin Karate World Cup in 2009, Japan. He won silver in 2011 in the middleweight category and then won gold on Sunday in the Veterans Open section.

Speaking ahead of the Tournament, Shihan Muripo said:

My spirit rejoices going to such an event because that’s where I get revived . . . Such a category carries very experienced fighters that have like over 24 years of training.

They are either Shihans or fourth dans, so it’s a very tough category. Victory is my target.

Zimbabwe So-Kyokushin Karate-Do Organisation technical director, Kumbirai Musinami, commended Muripo who went into the tournament after receiving news of his father’s death.

Musimani said that Muripowas already in Russia when the news arrived and he decided to participate.
