65% of the people seeking medical treatment in Bulawayo are suffering from mental disorders, some of them emanating from drug abuse some from other issues Sunday News Reports. An accredited drug prevention and rehabilitation specialist who spoke to the publication said:
They could be almost 80 percent but 65 percent is the documented figure. Mental issues emanate from substance abuse of drugs like marijuana, codeine and mood stabilisers usually put in muffins sold at school which when eaten confuse the individual and thus we end up labelling users as mentally unstable.
According to the publication, worst cases were referred to Ingutsheni Hospital which has 606 patients at the moment.
