Inflation Rate For September Falls Slightly To 17.72 Per Cent

According to ZimStat, the month on month inflation rate in September 2019 has fallen slightly from that of August by 0.35 percentage points. In a statement, ZimStat said:

The month on month inflation rate in September 2019 was 17.72 per cent shedding 0.35 percentage points on the August 2019 rate of 18.07 per cent.

This means that prices, as measured by the all items CPI, increased by an average rate of 17.72 per cent from August 2019 to September 2019.

The month-on-month inflation rate is given by the percentage change in the index of the relevant month of the current year compared with the index of the previous month in the current year.

The month on month Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages inflation rate stood at 19.55 per cent in September 2019, gaining 1.00 percentage points on the August 2019 rate of 18.55 per cent.

The month on month non-food inflation rate stood at 16.63 per cent, shedding 1.16 percentage points on the August 2019 rate of 17.79 per cent.

The CPI for the month ending September 2019 stood at 290.39 compared to 246.68 in August 2019.
