At the exporters and buyers’ seminar in Bulawayo, the ZimTrade Chair said they were positioning themselves for Brexit, The Chronicle reports.
Mrs Clara Mlambo told delegates to leverage on existing markets as they position themselves for Brexit which they think will open trade opportunities for Zimbabwe. Said Mrs Mlambo:
Leverage on available trade agreements which offer preferential access into regional and UK markets as you engage with the buyers. With regard to the UK, we are positioning ourselves in preparation for Brexit.
Britain is supposed to exit the EU by 31 October 2019 following Boris Johnson’s failure to garner enough votes for his withdrawal agreement.
