"The Reason Why The Anti-Sanctions March Is Necessary" - Analyst

Nehanda Radio Columnist, Tinomudaishe Chinyoka has said that it is imperative that Zimbabweans march against sanctions on the 25th of October, a day set for that purpose by SADC.

Chinyoka observed that contrary to popular belief that sanctions were on certain individuals, ZIDERA, as read with other US law and policy, criminalises the doing of business by any American entity with various Zimbabwean companies including Agribank.

Chinyoka also said that ZIDERA instructs American appointees on the boards or committees of the World Bank and the IMF to vote against anything that might result in some support being given to Zimbabwe and determines that these conditions will never change unless and until Zimbabwe pays white commercial farmers US$9 billion. He added:

The Industrial Development Corporation holds shares in various companies, including Olivine, which makes cooking oil, margarine and soap. That, apparently, made it a candidate for targeting.

He also cited remarks by MDC officials to prove that sanctions were a weapon being used to sabotage the economy.

Chinyoka’s remarks come when some analysts and opposition parties in the country have discouraged masses from participating in the anti-sanctions march saying they were being used by political elites on the sanctions list.
