ZIFA Clarifies On "ZIMRA Impounds Warriors Kit" Reports

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has clarified on reports suggesting that the Umbro kit which was delivered a couple of days ago was seized at Robert Mugabe International Airport in Harare by Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) officials over customs duty issues.

The Herald reported this morning that ZIFA has been desperately trying to get the equipment, which they believe should be exempted from paying the duty since it’s coming to be used by the country’s senior national football team.

The Herald also reported that the development forced ZIFA to use an old kit for the Warriors’ training programme which got underway in Harare on Tuesday.

Responding to a question by a follower on Twitter who wanted to know if the kit had finally arrived, ZIFA said:

It is not the kit that will be used for the match tomorrow.

We have kits from previous matches, like the one used for the world cup qualifier and CHAN qualifiers.

That is just another consignment of what we get from our kit sponsor.

Zimbabwe hosts Botswana this Friday at the National Sports Stadium for the 2021 Total Africa Cup of Nations qualifier scheduled for 6 pm.
