President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Friday conferred various degrees and certificates to 958 graduates at Lupane State University (LSU), Matebeleland North.
Delivering his keynote address at the event, LSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Pardon Kuipa urged the graduates to be solution providers. Kuipa said:
Please, create employment for those who were less fortunate than you and could not attend university.
Use your knowledge and skills to solve societal and community problems. I challenge you to be of service to your communities.
His remarks come when the country’s unemployment rate has ballooned over the years with several graduates from tertiary institutions underemployed or enrolling in menial jobs.
Resultantly, dozens of skilled workers and others who failed to establish businesses in the country citing the restraining environment have been crossing the country’s borders in search of greener pastures.
