An advisory note purported to be from the secretariat of the Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe (GMAZ) has revealed the new prices of mealie meal after the government scrapped subsidies on grain. The note read:
The government of Zimbabwe has with immediate effect removed subsidies on grain, resulting in the price of GMB maize to ZWL $4, 000/MT.
1. ROLLER MEAL
In light of the above price movement, the price of roller meal shall be circa RTGS89.96 per 10 kg bag.
The traditional margin for miller prices to retailers is 13%, thus giving a retail price of circa RTGS 101.66 per 10 kg bag.
