Stern Action Promised Against "Forces That Will Destroy The Party," As Factionalism Resurfaces In ZANU PF

The ruling ZANU PF has vowed to deal decisively with remnants of Generation 40 (G40) faction who are reportedly working to destabilise the governing party.

This was revealed by ZANU PF Mashonaland West Provincial Chairperson, Ziyambi Ziyambi who threatened to expose what the accused members are doing adding that recommendations will be made for them to be expelled. He said:

Going forward, we will detail everything that these people are doing and recommend that they be expelled.

While our desire is to ensure that we maintain our support base and recruit more, we can’t allow forces that will destroy the party to persist.

He added that the party had no room for those who are undecided on whether they belonged to the party or not saying that now was their chance to decide since time will come for “naming and shaming” them.

The G40 faction was prominent during the reign of the late former president, Robert Mugabe with some suggesting that it was being headed by Mugabe’s widow, Grace.

The faction weakened in 2017 with the demise of Mugabe as the alleged G40 kingpins, Professor Jonathan Moyo, Saviour Kasukuwere, and Patrick Zhuwawo went into exile as the military targeted Mugabe’s close lieutenants.

Meanwhile, Moyo says G40 existed only as an idea and Mnangagwa was using it as “scarecrow” to scare people.
