VP Chiwenga Speaks On Dialogue And MDC Demands For Chamisa To Meet ED

Vice president Constantino chiwenga has emphasised the importance of dialogue amongst Zimbabweans saying that a peaceful environment was conducive for development.

While introducing President Mnangagwa at a meeting held between the country’s Presidium and members of the Inter-Denominational Council of Churches at State House on Monday, Chiwenga said:

Let me, therefore, reiterate His Excellency’s view that as Zimbabweans we are capable of finding enduring solutions to our own challenges. As such, home-grown solutions are to be pursued than international mediation that other parties are trying to pursue.

“Hatiende kunotsvaga nyamukuta kunext door. Vana nyamukuta vedu tinavo muno.” (We don’t go to our neighbours to seek midwives. We have our own midwives here.

His remarks come as the opposition MDC led by Nelson Chamisa has snubbed the POLAD, a dialogue platform where President Mnangagwa and the majority of 2018 presidential candidates are having discussions.

Chamisa demands a foreign mediator and also demands that Mnangagwa’s legitimacy be put on the dialogue agenda and these demands have been rejected by ZANU PF.

ZANU PF says anyone who wants dialogue is free to join POLAD adding that no conditionalities must be attached.
