ZIFA Fails To Settle A $55K Bill After Flying 52 People To A COFASA Women Tournament In South Africa In July

The country’s football administrating board has been dragged before the court in a bid to compel them to pay $55000 to a travel agency that booked tickets for them to attend the COSAFA Women Tournament in Port Elizabeth in July.

ZIFA reportedly flew 52 people to the tournament and enlisted Travel Genius’ help in purchasing airline tickets. According to the Travel Agent’s Lawyer:

Plaintiff (Travel Genius) raised an invoice of US$54,704 and first defendant (ZIFA) undertook to pay the money on or before August 2, 2019. It was a material term of the agreement that plaintiff would offer the service and first defendant would pay in August 2019.

…First defendant is in material breach of the agreement in that service was rendered and it has failed to pay the total amount of US$55,164 on the agreed date. Despite several demands, the first defendant has failed, neglected or refused to pay the said amount

ZIFA has been having financial problems in 2019, with the Warriors at some point planning to boycott a game whilst they were playing in Egypt during the AFCON In June due to non-payment by ZIFA.
