'Highlanders Won't Throw Away Match Against Bulawayo Chiefs'

Highlanders coach Hendrikus Pieter de Jongh says his club will not “sell” Wednesday’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match against cross-town rivals Bulawayo Chiefs who are fighting relegation.

Bosso is chasing a top-four finish after winning the Chibuku Super Cup to guarantee a place in next season’s CAF Confederations Cup competition. Said de Jongh:

We have respect for our opponents but we will try and get a good result. I’m a man who believes in fair play so we will give it our all. I have told the players to go for it.

Our opponents need the points and teams that are ranked low get points at this stage of the league everywhere in the world. It will be a difficult game for us.

De Jongh’s first game in charge of Highlanders was against Chiefs in a match Bosso won 3-1.  Though the Dutchman was sitting in the stands on the day, he says it was his first official game in charge of the club.
