President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said peace and unity must prevail in the ruling party for it to be continuously dominant.

He said the virtues above will help the party to retain current and attract new members in line with the party’s envisaged five million voters target by 2023. He added:

However, this membership projection can only be realised when unity, peace, love and tolerance are embraced by all cadres of the party. Vices such as factionalism, regionalism, tribalism, intolerance and corruption have no place in our party.

His remarks come amidst reports that the remnants of the Generation 40 faction within the ruling party are engaged in clandestine activities to oust Mnangagwa.

Mnangagwa also speaks when some government officials have opined that the recent Cabinet reshuffling was meant for ethnic balancing.
