Matabeland Manufacturers Not Breaking For Christmas

Some manufacturers in Matabeleland have opted to forgo the holiday in order to boost production, The Chronicle reports. This is mainly due to the fact that most companies have not been operating at full capacity and they want to take the few days to catch up on production.

The Publication got hold of CZI  Matabeleland Chapter president, Shepherd Chawira and he confirmed the development and said:

Most of our members want to use the few days of the annual shutdown to push up production and make up for the lost time.

One of our members who received raw materials last week, has not been producing for the past two months, this is how bad the situation is.

Mr Chawira’s remarks echo the CZI statement that capacity utilisation would go down to around 30% due to many constraints.
