Senior Pastor In Walter Magaya's PHD Church Defrauds His Late Brother's Kids

A senior pastor in the Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries church led by Walter Magaya has appeared before the court after he allegedly defrauded his late brother’s kids of US$263 930.95, nothing was recovered.

The court heard that Nelson Tawanda Marimo was in 2014 appointed the executor of his late brother’s estate. His brother, Simon Tirivanhu Marimo and his wife Jaine died in a car accident and were survived by two minor children.

The deceased left a three-bedroomed house in Chitungwiza and a residential stand in Mt Pleasant Heights, Harare.

The clergyman, without the consent of the Master of the High Court, sold the Mt Pleasant Heights stand for US$45 000 and converted the proceeds to his personal use.

He then misrepresented that he intended to sell the same stand to pay school fees for his late brother’s minor children and to renovate the Chitungwiza house.

He also received pension, insurance and terminal benefits amounting to US$218 930,95 from Midlands State University and Glens Removal which he also converted to his personal use.

The Master of the High Court discovered the offence and made a police report leading to Marimo’s arrest.

He was released on $2 000 bail and was remanded to January 27.
