A prominent journalist and government critic, Hopewell Chin’ono, has advised opposition politicians to treat their spouses well as the government may use disgruntled wives/husbands to bring them down.
Chin’ono expressed his thoughts on microblogging site Twitter where he wrote:
The regime can also get to you through your wife. They send a man to have an extramarital affair with your wife.
Then she will realise how compromised she is. She will now be tasked with getting information and driving your thinking towards a certain way.
Look after your spouses well. Circumstances can turn a woman into having an affair.
Older opposition politicians, don’t marry socialites seeking fame and money!
Marry a woman who carries the same risk as you do if anything happens!
A woman who has nothing to lose can be bought by the system and sell you out gathering information for the regime!
Cheap woman it’s a NO!
