Herentals Football Club has been relegated from the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League after it was found guilty of match-fixing by the Premier Soccer League Disciplinary Committee.
Herentals’ 3-0 win over Black Rhinos has been forfeited, resulting in the club’s relegation from the topflight.
Chapungu, who were relegated at the end of the 2019 season after finishing a point behind Herentals, has bounced back into the top flight.
The match in question was played at the National Sports Stadium on October 19, 2019.
Herentals and its official, Oliver Chirenga, were charged with attempting to influence the outcome.
The PSL fined Chirenga ZWL$20 000 and banned him from any football-related activities for ten years from January 1, 2020.
Former Black Rhinos manager Gift Kamuriwo was fined ZWL$20 000 for breaching PSL Rules and Regulations after he received US$600 from the Herentals manager, Chirenga, to give to unnamed players.
Black Rhinos were trailing Herentals 3-0 in the opening 10 minutes of the match.
