Former ZANU PF MP Questions POLAD's Relevance

A Former ZANU PF MP, Irene Zindi said the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) is wasting government resources and playing a role that is meant for Parliament.

Zindi made the remarks while speaking at the start of a three-day capacity-building workshop for the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission (NPRC) Manicaland committee in Mutare on Tuesday. She said:

Polad was given about $5 million to carry out some duties; are we not wasting government resources?

I don’t know the purpose and intention of forming (Polad). Maybe it is for other political reasons.

Polad is not in the Constitution. They are now forming thematic committees, what for? This is something which is being done by the Parliament of Zimbabwe.

POLAD hosted an economic summit this Thursday at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC).

The summit was attended by President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy Constantino Chiwenga, POLAD interlocutors and other stakeholders.
