A 28-year-old man from Douglasdale in Bulawayo will rue the day he decided to kidnap a 35-year-old man for 3 hours as he will spend the next 3 years of his life in prison, The Chronicle reports.
Nqobizitha Moyo was convicted after pleading guilty to the kidnapping and assault charges levelled against him by one Ranganai Nyoni after a dispute with the complaint’s brother. Moyo was sentenced to 5 years in jail before 2 years were suspended on condition that he does not commit a similar offence.
It is the state’s case that:
The complainant was peacefully asleep at his house when the accused broke into his home and held him at knife point. The accused person forced the complainant to escort him to his place of residence which is about three kilometres away
Moyo assaulted Mr Nyoni all over his body with a baton. The complainant promised to pay the accused some money on the following day if he released him and that is how he secured his freedom.
