MDC secretary for Education Fadzayi Mahere has hypothesized how the Zimbabwean government and political elites raided the banking system and left the country bankrupt.
Posting on Twitter on Thursday, Mahere postulated that the grand heist was deliberately planned and meticulously executed. This was how it was done:
How to raid an entire banking system:
1.”Borrow” US$20bn from banks
2. Give banks “treasury bills”
3. Introduce “bond notes”
3. Create fake 1:1 parity
4. Squander & loot the US$20bn
5. Remove 1:1
6. Let rate run
7. Make debts payable in Z$ at 1:1 by law
7. “Pay back” debts
