JUST IN: Eswatini Records First Coronavirus Case

The Minister of Health in eSwatini formerly known as Swaziland has announced that the land-locked country has registered its first coronavirus case making the eSwatini the latest country in Africa to record a coronavirus case.

The minister said that the patient is a 33-year-old woman who returned from the United States at the end of last month and then travelled to Lesotho before going back home to eSwatini.

The woman has reportedly been quarantined.

The development means that seventeen countries in Africa have now recorded cases of the pandemic. Other African countries include South Africa, Ethiopia, Sudan, Guinea, Nigeria, Egypt and Algeria.

Thousands of people have so far died after contracting the virus which is contagious. Health experts recommend minimising social and public gatherings.
