Zimbabwe is scheduled to host China in the World Davies Cup Group ii tie after the two nations were pitted in a draw conducted at the International Tennis Federation (ITF) headquarters in London, United Kingdom, on Friday.
The tie will be played on either Friday, 18 Saturday, 19 September or Saturday, 19 Sunday, 20 September in Harare.
Although China will go into the tie as favourites, Team Zimbabwe’s convincing 3-1 win over Syria at Harare Sports Club last weekend will be a confidence booster for the hosts.
China were relegated from World Group 1 after withdrawing from a Davis Cup tie against Romania early this month due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Chinese team is placed 39th on the latest global rankings while Zimbabwe are ranked 62nd.
