Mwonzora Rules Out Working With Jonathan Moyo

MDC-T secretary-general Douglas Mwonzora has ruled out a pact with exiled former ZANU PF Politburo member Jonathan Moyo, saying the latter is a divisive figure who is trying to hijack the MDC.

Mwonzora accused Moyo of being instrumental in the crafting of the repressive Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (AIPPA) and the Public Order and Security Act (POSA) at the turn of the Millenium, laws which were used to crush dissent and harass journalists. Said Mwonzora:

… I do not agree with his involvement with MDC, he is the person who was instrumental in the crafting of AIPPA and POSA obnoxious pieces of legislation.

I would not want that person as an advisor to my party on democracy, I say this with the greatest respect. He has a right of personal opinion but he is not welcome in the MDC.

Mwonzora has recently rediscovered his virility after the Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled that Nelson Chamisa is not the legitimate leader of the MDC party.

The court of appeal confirmed an earlier ruling of the High Court that Thokozani Khupe is the party’s rightful interim president.

Mwonzora had been rendered politically impotent after he lost the post of secretary-general to Chamisa’ close ally Chalton Hwende at the 2019 congress.
