Zimbabwe Woman Kills Husband Over TV Channels Dispute

A Zimbabwean woman resident in Bulawayo has reportedly axed her husband for failing to support her during a TV Channels dispute with her daughter.

The Sunday Mail reports that on Friday night, the woman, Ordetta Mpofu (44) had a quarrel with her daughter who had changed a TV channel but the husband, Mr Thembani Mpofu (52) did not interfere. Resultantly, Ordetta axed him three times on the head.

The tragedy was confirmed by Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube who told The Sunday Mail that an investigation is underway. He said:

Police in Bulawayo are investigating a case of murder which occurred on 10 April in Emganwini. On the day at around 7.45 pm, the now deceased (father) was watching television with his wife and their two children. One of the children changed the channel they were watching and that did not go down well with her mother, who asked her to return to the previous channel.

A misunderstanding arose between the daughter and her mother. The mother became angry and the father didn’t intervene and indicated that he was not involved in their misunderstanding and retired to bed.

Some say Ordetta has a history of mental disorders which could have contributed to the tragedy.
