Madagascar President "Enthusiastically" Endorses COVID-19 Herbal Drink

The president of Madagascar, President Andry Rajoelina, has endorsed a herbal drink that is premised at protecting against the deadly coronavirus pandemic despite the fact that it has not been scientifically tested.

The Indian Ocean island nation of 26 million people, currently has 128 recorded cases of Covid-19 and no deaths has since reopened its high school after suspending classes for a month.

When classes resumed, students were reportedly asked to drink the “bitter drink” before entering into school.

Rajoelina had endorsed the herb on national television saying that it would change the course of history. He said:

What we want to do today is to popularize this drink to protect our population.

There is no vaccine for coronavirus yet and scientists, globally, are occupied with coming with one. Reports suggest that some researchers, including scientists at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom, have started conducting tests of their prospective vaccines on humans.

It is however not known when the vaccine will be approved and if it will work but researchers say they will not wait for approval when the people are dying.
