Bulawayo ZIMRA Employee Skips COVID-19 Self Isolation And Travels To Gweru

A ZIMRA employee who was in self-isolation pending receiving her COVID-19 test results reportedly skipped self-isolation and travelled to Gweru with 4 people in her car, Sunday News reports. This was after a male ZIMRA employee at the Bulawayo office tested positive for the virus which in turn made health officials put all 52 workers at the Bulawayo ZIMRA office on self-isolation.

The woman in question was ordered like everyone else to stay at her home in Bulawayo but she reportedly travelled to Gweru where her family is based with 4 other unknown passengers. The matter came to light when COVID-19 health response teams could not find her at her Bulawayo residence while they were making routine checkups

Midlands Provincial Medical Director Dr Reginald Mhene confirmed the incident to the publication and said;

This woman came from Bulawayo despite having been tested and placed under isolation. Our team has visited her and quarantined her together with her family while we wait for the results. We are, however, still to record a single positive case in the province
