Typhoid Case In Hatcliffe Extension

Harare City Council has advised residents to continue practising good hygiene following a typhoid case reported in Hatcliffe Extension over the weekend.

Hatcliffe Extension is considered one of Harare’s high-risk areas, with City Health Director Dr Prosper Chonzi saying it is important for residents to practice good hygiene. He said:

We now urge residents to wash hands all the time like what we have been encouraging before.

Since it’s a waterborne disease we also encourage boiling of water all times so that it won’t spread.

Typhoid is a waterborne disease which has afflicted Harare residents from time to time especially those living in high-density suburbs such as Glen View and Budiriro.

In 2018, from the two suburbs, it killed 25 people and about 3000 cases were reported while last year it claimed 49 lives.
